I’ve always been torn on this. Dealerships feel more “official,” but they charge a lot. On the other hand, independent shops are cheaper, but I sometimes worry about the quality. My friend told me to switch after his Car won't start one morning and the dealer quoted him something crazy for diagnostics. What do you guys think — is it really worth going independent?

Totally been there. My Car won't start a few months ago, and instead of going to the dealership, I tried https://www.vip-servicecenter.com/. Best decision ever. They diagnosed the issue quickly — it was just a worn-out starter — and didn’t overcharge. The tech even showed me the old part. Independent centers like that often have certified mechanics and use the same equipment, just without the huge markup.

I’ve used both, and honestly, it depends on what you need. For major warranty stuff, dealerships make sense, but for regular repairs, I’ve had great experiences with local shops. It’s nice when they treat you like a person, not a number.
